The change of seasons . . .

HibernationIt is not only changing the clock that affects sleep patterns. As we transition from the warm weather with the windows open and long daylight hours to cold temperatures, doors and windows closed with shorter daylight hours our bodies have to adjust. We also may be eating different foods as the weather cools, fewer fresh fruits and vegetables and perhaps larger portions with less exercise. That maybe Mother Nature's way to prepare us for a period of hibernation which we do not need!

With a bit of planning we can maintain our good health by watching what we eat and finding ways to stay active. I will miss all the activity in the gardens so am thinking about taking a dance class this winter to supplement my massage practice (which is wonderful exercise).
