Reflexology, done on hands, feet and ears, is based on the concept that there are areas on all that refer to other parts of the body. Modern reflexology began with Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, a practicing physician at Boston City Hospital, in his book Zone Therapy, or Relieving Pain at Home.
The "maps" created in the 1930's by Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist in the office of Dr. Joe Shelby Riley, are the basis of Reflexology today. Each area of the hands corresponds to a part of the body, an organ or a gland through the nervous system as you can see in the illustration below.

A session, done fully clothed either in a reclining position or on a massage table, can be received by most everyone. There are few contraindications.
